Indigenous Relations Policy
UTS Consultants Inc. (UTS) is grateful to be able to operate on a variety of treaty lands and territories of Indigenous Peoples in Canada. UTS acknowledges that its head office is situated on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg, Attiwonderonk (Neutral), Haudenosaunee, and Mississauga peoples. The land is specifically covered by the Haldimand Treaty of 1784 (granting six miles on both sides of the Grand River) and is part of the territory associated with the Ajetance Purchase (Treaty 19 of 1818).
Haldimand Proclamation
The Haldimand Proclamation was a decree that granted land to the Mohawk who had served on the British side during the American Revolution.
UTS respects and values the constitutional rights, knowledge, and experiences of all Indigenous Peoples. UTS is committed to building meaningful, long-term relationships with Indigenous communities in pursuit of reconciliation.
UTS recognizes and commits to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action. As such, per Call to Action 92, UTS commits to the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples which acts as an international human rights instrument and provides a roadmap for lasting reconciliation, healing and cooperative relations with the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples of Canada.
